big tip-try to beg, steal or borrow some "Cougar" as that is the Air products( french Co)

Air Products is an american company. The french have their own liquid gas company called Air Liquide. Both tried at one time to jointly take over BOC, but were stopped by competition laws.

Hi All.
Sorry to drag this old thread up but a question for ex-pats on the forum
Are the CO² and Argon mix bottle fittings here in France the same as the UK or are the threads a different size.

Which would mean new gauges and flowmeters if there different.

As you would expect from the french, they're different. The male and female thread are the other way around. I can grab a pic tomorrow if it helps. And I would advise shopping around.

Hi Joolz.
Thanks for the reply.
Photograph would be interesting to the differences.

I have been asking around and looking for different suppliers, but not found the right one yet.

Whilst prices may not be that comparable, I got (with a mate to lower cost even more)...

Used big mig welder with no label at all for £80,
Regulator £35,
Mask £20,
15kg wire reel for about a tenner if I remember rightly
pub gas, two CO2 cylinders for £20

All in all about £170 between the two of us to get welding, if you are unlucky with a used welder you may want to add a new torch liner, earth clamp etc
