Post Re: whats your m.p.g?
i've worked out that im currently doing about 150-180 miles every 5 days and she takes roughly 20odd ltrs each time although i was very shocked last week when for the first time ever on normal unleaded it cost £30 to fill her up! :'( so far i've done about 150 miles since my last brimmed fill up and thats a mix of town driving and motorway blasts and i recon i've got about a quarter of a tank left, although my gauge reads very low! its always just under the full mark when full and she can run on the empty mark for a couple of days... once it stops going up or down when going round a corner then i know its quite low :P

a heavy flywheel will increase mpg? i do mostly slow driving to and from work as the roads are slow ones, so would that be good to increase mpg??

I don't think it's the flywheel itself James, but the engine characteristics it provides lend themselves toward a more gentle right foot.

Dudley averages around 38mpg but thats with Steve nailing it all the time - the beige beast does mid 40's and Nippy the sidewinder does around 30mpg. I keep all our mpg figures - yeh anal I know - and our 86 special used to do high 40's all the time on my wifes commute from Carnforth to Morecambe back in those days.
Just to put things in perspective, my Merc C250 CDI - 200+BHP Diesel - averages 44.9 over 1380L I've put in since August, with a genuine high of 51.5
