The original 4-slotted trigger wheel from Lada distributor. Just cutted so there is only two slots now. Cutted surface can be seen on that photo the bright area.

Same four slotted wheel is used on Golf distributor, also some time there was only one slot wheel for some Golf engine (for USA market, I suppose) but it is easier to make from 4-slot part.

I also made three slotted wheel for Sm ignition...

...from a Harley Davidson Odd-Fire -trigger wheel. H-D part number is visible if you decide to make from that, surprice the H-D part was way cheaper than bosch part!

The HD "Cup" trigger has 2 slots, but they are not opposite each other. (180 degs).

How does this effect the ignition/firing time?????

Is the locking Collar home-made, or from what car.

HD has an uneven firing interval, as Jasu already mentioned and the mounting collar/adaptor will be custom-made by the same chap, I'd guess... ;)
Much tidier than the ones I made for A series engines about 25 years ago, using parts from Talbot Solaras.

Yes, the slots of H-D is 157,5 degrees off, because of 45 degree V-angle. Reason to cut from that, there wasn't any three-slotted wheels to find...

And yes, the collar is my own "design", to fit that wheel to Sm distributor shaft. Really, just made, not well designed before I went to garage...

But the story of Sm distributor is another, if someone is interested please use PM. The wheel is only to show where also can start to make your own. Widening those slots so there is 180 degree between them is easy, and that H-D part was very cheap compared to Bosch wheel and easier to find (from here, can't say how about other countries).

I know I might be accused of being a Luddite but why go to the bother of fannying around with bits from other cars when a cheap £15 points assist from eBay does the job........?

Could be because of enjoying the challenge of adapting those parts, learning a (little) bit about electronics in the process and ending up with a setup which not only worked really well but as a bonus meant you'd never again damage an A series coil by accidentally leaving the ignition switched on.

Had a dig around in the shed and found some of the leftover bits and pieces...

Why not make it even more simple? Buy a complete new car! Nowadays they can be bought even cheaper than a proper 2CV.

As said, these has made because they can be made. It is possible to make. Who needs any more reasons? Part of fun, hobby, learning etc...

And, when I started to make this, only electronic ignition was Lumenition and it was very expensive. 123 wasn't on the market, yet. And a second reason, I needed something else than contact breakers to make injection, clean RPM signal to L-Jetronic (again, can be asked, why)...
