Tought about that as well, the pressure is not that high, just a big volume of cold air! I'm sure the pressure that the fuelpum puts on it is much higher!

And pics will follow! Will also try to make a small film.

I don't think it is much about the fuel pressure, but more air pressure (difference) between float chamber and main air passage. I don't know these carbs at all but there may also be other fueling corrections based on air pressure diff. Maybe worth trying w/o forced air intake.

if they have air correction jets or emulsion tubes then they will get upset by the blower if previously working OK. The blower doesnt add that much to it despite what Burton may claim.

Ok, so tried to connect my great homemade filter, to be short, it didn't work, not even a bit! Even without the tubotube connected and without filterelement or lid on the filterbox.... this was a real setback! I guess the carbs have some kind of interferance, I will try it lateron, but have to get the car going for Poland.

In the end I decided to stick to the 2 K&N filters on the carbs, so have to make a carter breather to release the gasses and return oil to the connector on the distick. Takes some time, but it is almost done.

Sorry, no pics or films yet, I was quite grumpy last weekend, fixing this and all other 'issues' (holes in the bodywork, installing gauges, fixing some other dodgy elektrics, all not to difficult, but it takes so much time!

Tomorrownight more settingup, it runs quite well now, having a Lamdasensor is a must in my opinion! A little warmup, up and down the street once or twice and you know what to change!

Greetzzzz

So, I made it to Poland and back!

No problems what so ever (just broken exhaust, but that has nothing to do with setting up the carbs)

Before the trip, I spent a lot of time getting the setup right, ordered some jets and needles last minute, and that turned out to be a good gamble!

The engine runs great! (compared to the week before the trip) Lots of torque in lower and mid-range, just on top revs it’s a bit short, I think it has got something to do with the length of the inlet manifolds, for some reason above a certain rpm it starts to make more noise and you can also smell petrol being blown back through the airfilters.

I’m still not satisfied, want to test more and also try to go back to my original home made airfilterbox. I saw on a website the motoguzzi’s (which use the same carbs) have a similar filterbox, so it has to work!

Anyway, cruising @ 120km/h (gps speed!) is easily doable, engine is still pretty quiet. Only 1/3 throttle or so, so you’d think there is much more to gain, well that is where the challenge starts, it doesn’t really want to rev over that speed, if you push it it’ll go to 130 or so but that’s it and smells really bad of petrol. The top speed I reached was 140 km/h (GPS) and still not over revving at all! (due to the AMI super grearbox)

BUT… I met some of you during the meeting over there, which I really liked, good to see the people behind the names! One of you (I won’t mention his name) took me for a ride in his car with Beemer engine… I was lost for words after that, just a HUGE grin on my face

What an awesome car/ setup! I think that is what I need too, have to finish some other things first, but after that…

If I add all the money and time I spent on this engine, your almost on the level of what a Beemer conversion will cost. And I still have half the power, oh, no, not even that…

Greetzzzzzzzz, Rusty

Guess what I'm doing at the moment, had the same ride in that Mehari Beamer... same grin on my face so at the moment I'm full speed ahead on my Beamer-project......
