Hi Nels,
is it noisier in 4th gear (when on the move) than in 3rd?
If so, that would certainly suggest that the input shaft bearing is beginning to let go...
It's a 6205NR bearing, easy enough to get hold of but not so easy to fit and in my opinion if you're going that far into a gearbox, you may as well go the whole hog.
Are the 2nd and 3rd synchromesh mechanisms still working well?
