had a look at the steering today -the passenger side steering arm bolts were a bit loose the arm moved up and down a bit, yet the locking tabs were fine? :?:
anyway i tighned the 2 bolts(about a turn each) the went up the shops in it no probs
thanks for all the advise
edit
the arm was a new replacement abt a year ago i reckon it didn,t seat as it was a very tight fit in the slot- as i drove the car, in time it loosend up hence the bolts prob :?
hanged if i know

It would be a good idea to fit new bolts, just incase they have stretched. They are high tensile, available from Ecas.

A good indication of a little attention with a wire brush prior to fitting and maybe a little tap or to with a Birmingham screwdriver

They are a very tight fit,and I would still change those bolts,if they should fail, its goodnight Irene.

i reckon it might be the track rod end adjustment

Worth a reminder that they aren't adjustable to take up wear. The "adjustment" is only for production. As they wear, they go oval. Adjust 'em up, and they go tight when they swivel and the thicker bit comes round. Keep at it, and they may eventually snap off.

if they aren't 10.9 grade bolts they stretch

i prefer to tap out to M8 and fit 12,9s which never come loose even in situations where a welded on arm will often fail (over the rumble strips at Snet).
