 Re: Jumping car?
Firstly... Thankyouuuu 2cv nutter.. I didnt think of the name.. the owner before me did.. so i thought it was only fair to keep it Yea before today it was running absolutely fine.... so no idea what it is... Just got back from a short trip out.. where it jumped so much.. the queue of traffic behind me was embarassing... but pfffffffft Anyways when i was driving it just now it like jumped constantly and barely reached over 50mph... it seems happyish at 30 although it still jumps alot then... (any idea's of problems... can you explain them in lay-man term's.... ) Thankyouuuuu Katie xx

 Re: Jumping car?
Ignition problems, like condensor, points. Also coil maybe wire from coil to points, leads and spark plugs. Not to forget advance weights

KT Adams wrote: But... whenever I try and accelorate in the car (in every gear) it keeps jumping ( like when your running out of petrol type jumping and its spluttering - yet I have nearly a full tank of it) and the engine keeps kind of "popping" or making loud-ish banging sounds at .. and im not entirely sure what it is...
Also dont know if its related.. but the car feels abit faster than I rememeberd it to be... and kind of feel sometimes like its driving itself a little bit!
There's a dude on YouTube with similar problems. Seems like Derric and Harry has dubbed the movie, but it's clear that treathening the car with a museum might work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7BRWjJc6bo&feature=PlayList&p=C00983232A9B56FD&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=1Anywho. You shouldnt bee driving around in the car when it is like that. It's really trying to tell you something is wrong, you know Get it serviced somewhere. 2CV-vikings suggestions seems like a good start, since it worked just fine and suddenly didnt.

 Re: Jumping car?
I still think its either fuel pump fuel or mixture/carb settings. if it was the points you would have a problem starting and it would not effect it like that. I know from experience of points going. Startings a bas***d or it doesn't start at all. It could be leads or coil. To be honest i am not totaly sure as i don't know what it is like as i have not heard it. Sorry Katie

 Re: Jumping car?
I'm not sure, I've had condensers fail, they start fine but then as you get going the car gets hiccups, and stutters. IIRC.

 Re: Jumping car?
Did you try what I suggested KT? Where abouts are you? If you're still around Northants area, I can speak to a couple of friends there who could probably have a quick look at it and sort the problem for you?

 Re: Jumping car?
RIGHT.... Katies just rang.... to say that mylo kept cutting out... and now he wont start!
she has ignition... but the car doesnt fire... sounds more like a coil problem... or as lou just said the condensors gone! i remember on a mini we had last year, one day it drove fine.. the next day... it was a nightmare, spluttering and hicuping down the m'way... i seem to remember that was the condensor gone on that!

Check coil leads first. HT and LT.
