tim you do have eccentrics on the lower pivots cant see any sign of them in the photo
and they are proper eccentrics not those "missing the point completely" concentric ajustment dohdahs? the hex head should be on top of the shoe web and be under the locking tab thingy

you are fitting the drum to full torque( or till there is no give in the bearing) ajusting the 14mm hexes on a downward rotation till the drum starts to drag removing drum then ajusting the bottom of the shoe to the same as the top bit? you can usually see the high point as it will have a slight glaze from the drum

have you had the cylinders off? it sounds like the system needs bleeding and a check that the pistons aren't retracting under the tension of the dust covers

Hi, yes I have the eccentrics as far as I know they are the propper ones. I'll try Seans method of adjusting them tonight. I have been doing up the 44mm nut with the breaker bar but not peening over incase i had to open them again. (Expensive nuts)

I have fitted new cylinders and will try the tip that the haynes says about leaving them loose until brakes pressed to centralise I guess?

How do you stop the dust covers pulling the pistons back in? I will get my wife to help bleed the brakes later.

thanks

Tim

a smalll spring about the same as you get inside the rear light cluster you have to dismantle the cylinder though.

as you have to get the shoes so they are practically touching any lip on the edge of the drum will hamper things as its not the actual braking surface you can reduce it with an angle grinder flap wheels are softer than hard disks and polish as they go - dont go tonto on its ass

ive never bothered centering the cylinders they are by their nature self centering

you do have the shoes round the right way and the friction material is already shampfered so tick those off the list
