Top one is late indoor pendant type & bottom one is the old round organ pedal outdoor one. If this helps.

Sorry, trying to figure out the terminology. I have the button pedal. The bottom switch is the one i have but cannot see how it is operated. Should there be something on the shaft that pushes the tab or a spring or something

I think when the pedal is in the 'at rest' position there is 'something' on the shaft which holds the switch 'off', when you brake the shaft moves forward and a spring in the switch pushes the contacts together. Too dark now but in the morning I will go look @ the AZAM @ let u know.

That would be great, thanks. Going to check the short for the lights now.

Right, been for a peer. As I thought/guessed/made unsubstantiated allegation last night there is indeed a clamp on the shaft which holds the switch off @ rest.

As you can see in the upper photo the clamp is just a strip of tin around the shaft with a small bolt through it which when tightened holds it in place. It bears against the metal tongue hanging down from the switch.
Assemble everything with this clamp loose on pedal shaft, power through the electrics (when you have sorted them  ), push clamp toward the bulkhead a bit past the point at which the lights go out and screw it up! But that's all bleedin' obvious from the pics so u don't need me wittering on..!
One day I'll work out how to put the pics in the middle of the text & save the extra posting...

Thanks Citroenboat for the help. I found it straight away and the whole brake arm was out of alignment, so a quick twist and the switch was back in line.

Then the lights did not work. So after a little tracing I found the brake wires and one had broken inside the insulation. Quick snip and resolder and the brake lights work.

So all my lights work pretty good now. Even fitted a new Bobine, leads and spark plugs.

Happy days
Ian
