Re: Comments on this item please
I bought something similar looking, dunno if it was the same mob, sorry, claiming to be 6volt for the AZAM rebuild - ECAS had no 6volt ones @ the time. It was hard to start and failed on the way to MoT.

Re: Comments on this item please
When George (remember him?) had his Dyane he bought one of these. Thus followed two weeks of Russ and I taking it in turns to drive to his house and fix his car before I got bored of this, took the coil and HT leads off my Mehari and fitted those. The issue is the moulded in HT leads. They break. I don't recommend them

Re: Comments on this item please
Thanks Sam, its in the garage on the shelf but I'd figured if it ain't broke..... Whilst i'm happy with the 123 I'm beginning to wonder based on my theory mentioned above, if I'm right in saying if I have a flat battery she won't start on the handle with 123??? I still have the points in the boot so I could change back, the battery went flat at my dads and he couldn't start it off handle (he didn't know it had 123) I'll keep it for the mo I think.

Yes it is an old post and have since decided not to install it to my car so it will probably live on the garage shelf until it finds its way to the bin

I have a vague feeling that 123 needs a certain amount of power to work which is above that needed to start a car on the handle (and by default then bump starting too?) If it happens at home, you're not a million miles away from a spare battery

Re: Comments on this item please
My 2CV came with 123 and no points, I have never had problem with it since i bought it 3 yrs ago hot or cold starts. Unfortunately it didn't come with the point box as a back up.
Sam great January issue , keep the tech articles flowing

Re: Comments on this item please
You could always stck a battery charger on the battery just to give it 12v for 123 and when car starts the alternator will do the rest. Quick way to go
