Tim - to double check for air leaks, just spray some wd40, or brake/carb cleaner around the carb and gasket area when running - if there is a leak the revs will drop - also spray around the inlet gaskets onto the cylinder as these draw air too if they arent seated correctly.
The other thing to do is check in the bowls for crap and use a safety pin or some other thin instrument to run through the second jet to see if there is some tiny piece lodged in it......

done every thing... then did it again... tried another carb but that was goosed so not much help.
Put the original one back on again and she now flys! working as well as before revs right through, lots of wheel spin and change into 3rd about 50mph and she still pulls! WOOP!

Test drive to Mallory tomorrow i hope!

Need new throttle return spring, tiny easily broken spring on top of car and to work out what the broken base spring is for and if i need to replace it.

Thanks all! Tim

Wet day!

Yes, I always find that handy tool repository an excellent place for allowing spanners, nuts, screws etc., to fall down and get lodged behind the flywheel!

I use one of those magnetic trays on top of one of the heater boxes now, but have used the filter box as a table in the past. :)

Manifold gasket

I would place the gasket between the manifold and the spacer. You are creating a brigde between the butterflies unless you fit one of these

Wow, it's been a long time since I've seen a James Walker gasket. They used to be made in the town where I live, but production moved to Cockermouth. The head Office is still here.
