Yes i concur the tools are only for getting them off ,oil on the gasket and 3/4 turn by hand once gasket is starting to seal ,as marked on most of them is the way to fit.

im going to use the screwdriver and hammer method for tightening too :mrgreen:

Yes the handy hole you created will enable easier removal when the time comes 8-)

From my experience strap wrenches can be a pain in the arse sometimes !

From my experience strap wrenches can be a pain in the arse sometimes !

Especially when the one you have had for about 20 years has gone and hidden itself amongst the jars of round toits.......

Cool - liking yer style Mr Higgs likin the style,
i shall now have blanking plates cnc machined from billet dural as there must be a market for such a labour saving device. afterall what did Citroen know plenty of drag racing VW beatles came without oil filters and can do 11sec 1/4 miles

Not exactly labour saving as I'm supposed to change the oil every twelve miles or so. And it'd be easier to change the filter on a late 2cv if you hacksawed the front right hand chassis leg off.
