 Re: Shopping
Whilst I have always been delighted with every dealing with ECAS, considering the value of the euro you may well do better price wise with a mainland european supplier.
Or failing that the 2cv shop have always been cracking for me.

 Re: Shopping
Naturally Ecas for the UK folks. Just jump in, most parts are from the same maker. Service is the key issue. Good luck

 Re: Shopping
^^^ 2CViking is kickass and on mainland europe! He has sourced me many different 2cv parts from wreckers, including a Visa engine and LNA box, then posted it across the lake to Oz He also has 2 cute daughters of Greek descent that he could be persuaded to sell for the right price... Harley

 Re: Shopping
It might even be better to buy from small businesses , they work harder to earn less money, and in general they have more experience in "how to..",so they can advice you better .

 Re: Shopping
I usually buy from Franzose, because of the great website, shipping costs and I'm pleased with the service. I have complained on some parts from them, and they have given me compensations for it. All in all, no problems.
But, do NOT buy the cheapest versions of parts! Many of them sucks, and you'll be more happy with good parts for more money, than crap for less money. That's why I like Franzoses quality markings on the web-site. (1 to 5) On some parts, don't buy stuff marked 4 or 5. But, this system is not perfect. And some times I'm not sure I completely trust them on this......
So comparing prices isn't easy. Let's say Franzose sell "part A" in good quality for 69 Euro, and crap quality for 49 Euro. Then you compare with some other place, and they have just one type "part A". And it cost 59 Euro. Then you don't know if it's cheaper or more expensive. If it's the crap version, it's more expensive than Franzose. But if it the good quality one, it's cheaper than Franzose......

 Re: Shopping
Don't be fooled by Franzose quality rating system. It looks good but be aware. Ever wondered how and who rates the parts since they don't install any parts but sell only? Agree that it can be migthy difficult to determind where to buy and what you get for your money.

 Re: Shopping
^Another reason I like ECAS. AFAIK they only stock the best parts available on the market. It might be slightly more expensive, but whatever you buy you know it's almost certainly good quality.

 Re: Shopping
Always a problem with prices and quality. I buy parts for my customers all around EU and mainly from Citparts (low shipping costs). But when some new part arrive into shops I usualy buy that on my costs and risk just to test it . As I have two daily driving A series cars at home (dyane and Ami) I instal those parts first on my cars to test it before I can recomend to my customer.
And I can tell that there is a lot of bad parts that just looks good. In WM Salbris I was looking for a aks400 wings and in lot of 20 pieces I found only one that was almost good. And latter I ordered Dyane front grill that is not good reproduction, dont fit under the bonnet. On new floors for 2cv usualy spot welded inner nuts for the seat rails fall off . And a lot of other problems ...
So, buy parts that you know that are good quality no matter price.
