immobiliser?

you can get them aftermarket ones that you fit like a little socket or similar onto the dashboard and you have a thing on your keys that mates upto it...thats what im thinking of doing with the dyane!

Thanks :)

One point in mitigation; the ebay anti-tracking device needs a cigarette lighter socket to plug into and my 2CV doesn't have one ;)

All this is bollocks. If the pikeys want your car they *will* take it regardless of whether it is drivable or not. You need to make it difficult to remove, not drive away. Pikey will HIAB cars they want in broad daylight. Your best bet is to make or buy a ground anchor and a big heavy motorcycle lock chain or better still very heavy gauge chain and a very big padlock to chain the car to a concrete floor. It's still possible to steal the car with a HIAB but you'd destroy the car before you stole it and it'd only be good for scrap to the pikey scum but repairable to the likes of us. Basically you need to make it so they rob somebody elses car instead of yours. You will not stop pikeys and you're very unlikely to see the car again if you find they have had it away. You need to get serious. Ground anchors UNDER the car so its hard to use a disc cutter on the chain and padlock, combined with a serious padlock are the best way. Killing the battery will delay a pikey car their by about 5 seconds unless they're using a crane and then it won't bother them at all.

Russ is right
I've always wondered about trackers.
Friends expensive BMW was stolen in London last year, by one of those crane things.
So immobilisers won't stop them, but trackers help
If he had remembered to renew his membership

There's been a few documentaries on telly about those trackers where they've flown a helicopter over a few African cities with a tracker and it's gone berserk, there's so many of them still in cars out there that have been shipped over there in containers after being stolen here. You also need to question the motives of who would want to steal a 2cv, and why. Usually either kids joyriding for a laugh or proper bastards who want to either ring it and flog it on for big bucks because they know what it's worth or break it up for parts. Don't expect plod to help.

Heard a story of an inside job with trackers etc
As much as Plod would like to help, one car out of the 12 stolen every minute isn't going to make a big impression
