If you have a scrap wheel, cut a hole in the middle, to stop the hub turning,
I think Russell made something of a similar design to make it so no volunteer necessary?
I've done the usual rubbish job of explaining what I mean

Thanks for the extra info. I've ordered the gaiter so hopefully it will be here on Tuesday. :)

I've checked underneath further and I reckon this fault may well be down to me not fitting the wing correctly after I resprayed it. The inner wing is very close to the gaiter. Doh.

And it only has a clip on the inner (fat) end.

Some unknowing mechanics may fit one on the outer end.

When you fit it, turn it inside out and push the big end of the gaiter over the small end of the driveshaft. Then turn it the correct way round once it's on. It's a lot easier. And undo the nut at the wheel end.

Thanks to everyone for your help and advice, it's fitted. Image

And yes it was my fault - didn't spot the inner wing had shifted by about 3 inches when I refitted it after respraying. I straightened it and it's now secured in it's little rubber clips on the chassis.

Took me a bit longer than ken's "About 15 to 20 minutes from start to finish" by an hour or two, but in mitigation I did it on my own.
