ben,
it's not a problem, as long as you've made sure to have a good pair of extra long nose pliers available... ;)

Most of the swarf can be collected on the tap by coating that with grease, but if the crankshaft is set so that the exhaust valve is ready to open, then a good blast of compressed air down the spark plug hole will ensure that any bits which do manage to escape will head that direction.

You have to break the tang off once the helicoil is wound in, i would imagine it's quite difficult not to lose that down the bore if doing it with the head still on :|

handy to know 8-)

Next on the list is the annoying "tick" from the speedo, (or cable).......I have spares for both so will do the easy one first.

My friend's Dyane does that - no idea what causes it though :?

Been trying to stop mine too :x
Changed the speedo and fitted a new cable but it still ticks :x
What with the rattling gear selector and ticking speedo, just can't seem to stop them.
Any more thoughts?

learn to live with it.

as long as you cant see the road through the floor or bits dont drop off then anything else is a bonus!

Your right Sean,I can live with the speedo as the noise gets drowned by the noise of the engine, which is good, but the rattling gear selector is really doing my head in :x .
I will find a way around this and will let you all know.
Maybe convert to automatic transmission
