And how far per litre?

My favourite tyres are indeed the 125R15.
The problem is they got too expensive. About €105 each.

Assume they last 50,000km, averaged across the front and rear.

So that's €410 for the set, or 0.8 of a Euro CENT per km. How much does fuel cost you per km?

Tyres are cheap.

That is a very good point.

I'm on a set of 135 michelins - getting on a bit now, but were cheaper than 125's at the time. They'll perish before they wear out.

On LPG I need from 6.5 to 8 litres to drive 100 kms.
It should be probably less if I were more careful when pushing the accelerator...

OK, so you're getting through €5 to €6.25 per 100km, or 5c to 6.25c per km.

So that's "only" six to eight times the cost of tyres on fuel...

Ok, I find them expensive for two main reasons: first because, three years ago I bought them (125R15) for almost half the price; second because my salary has been substantially reduced because of the so-called crisis...

22 years is seriously old for a tyre, it is generally reckoned their life span is 10 years. A few years back I picked up a 2CV from France with a car transporter. It had Michelins all round. Two of them burst on the way home just from standing on the transporter and being rocked around.

I seem to remember a news article regarding a crash involving an MGB where the driver was killed. The subsequent investigation blamed the crash on one of the old tyres fitted to the car actually bursting at speed, due to being damaged by age. There was plenty of tread on all the tyres, but the side wall ruptured. James, you take your life in your own hands. ;)

And anybody else on the road at the same time or perhaps pedestrians etc too?

Personally, I'm a little sceptical that they're the originals at that age and mileage but it is possible.............
