Before you go ahead, measure the barrels with a plug gauge to determine the ware or use the new rings to find out. Place the new rings inside the barrels and measure the gab with feeler gauge. If gab is more than 0.35 mm the barrel is too worn in my opinion. Sometimes a new piston and barrel set is a long term better solution. How many miles has the piston and barrels done (city or country driving)

Yes hone the barrel if its not too worn, the most wear occurs at 20 mm or so from the top of the barrel
as you are not running in the crank or cam you need to load up the rings to bed them in
