Post Re: Spare wheel or not?
I've just put a subwoofer (10kg) in the boot and the car has changed its stance. There is more on the back wheels. I tend to like weight on the front wheels, better turn-in etc.
Seems silly to have all the lumber in the boot when I have never had a puncture.. ever.
Shame they dont make a space saver spare for the 2CV!
Many new cars are not supplied with spares, or even anywhere to put them.

You're talking about a 125 or 135 section tyre here, it IS a space saver tyre ;) Also, never ever say "ever", you're tempting fate

This could be a working solution without cutting a hole in the bonnet. My C4 Picasso has no spare wheel at all not even a skinny one.

That tyre repair foam stuff is fine as long as the tire only has a small puncture which could otherwise be repaired, once you've launched that stuff in it prevents any repair patch from properly vulcanising. Any tyre repair place worth it's salt will know that and refuse to repair it. If then do repair it in most cases the patch will come adrift. So you've spent a fiver on a temporary fix and then £100 buying a new tyre. If you just whack a spare on you give your local tyre fitter a fiver and he'll mend the flat tyre. In a blowout you're cattle-trucked either way and the can of foam will be about as much use as an ashtray on a motorcycle.

If the cars sitting too low now it's for a sub in it, just wind the tie rods in a few turns.

You can adapt the lhd underbonnet spare wheel holders to fit rhd cars or quite simply make one yourself.

A ten kilo sub will make virtually bugger all difference to the handling. It was designed to take a ton of shit and some goats to Market, along with the farmer, his mrs and all thier clobber, so I doubt it'll make any odds to how the car drives, if it does it's probably more psychological!
