 Re: Side exit exhaust
I have one, and aside from the odd blast of exhaust gas into the cabin if the door is slightly ajar its not problematic.

 Re: Side exit exhaust
Like all the previous posts, I've run short pipes for the best part of two decades with no problems.

 Re: Side exit exhaust
If I use zip ties I assume I wrap them around the rubber hanger? They will melt of that touch the exhaust wont they?

 Re: Side exit exhaust
No. The zip tie stays on the outside of the rubber.

 Re: Side exit exhaust
Thought so, thanks. Although I may try to do it better and use an additional braket.

 Re: Side exit exhaust
I'm running a more extreme version of this, mounted a van backpipe on the the pipe coming from the engine bay, so my 2. silencer is gone, my first silencer also!! But I'm cheating a little bit because it's a turbo engine and the turbo silences the exhaust (a little). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aTO2LkTkpMThe end of the exhaust is underneath the frontdoor!!!! You can feel the exhaust blowing but it's to cold to really burn your leg (my opinion)

Joe Ahvee wrote: short pipes down fill up with water causing the second silencer to rust through either. i find. If you jack the car up and drill a small drain hole ,say 4 or 5 mm diameter ,at the lowest point of the torpedo at the bottom front end of it just before it tapers down into the front joint that problem (which is condensation ,nothing to do with short tailpipes) is solved.
