Re: king pin play I have heard tell of people filling an old grease gun with plaster of Paris and using that to "grease" knackered kingpins just around the corner from the MOT shop. Not that I'm recommending that or anything.

Re: king pin play The trouble is plaster of Paris might not set in time, you're better off using chemical
metal or something that sets very hard the night before, and occasionally turning the steering lock to lock while it's setting to prevent it locking the steering solid.

but after putting chemical metal in can you get it out again to replace the kingpin?

like i said somewhere may of been further up that one of mine was flagged up in the mot and when i greased the other day had no grease in it!

Re: king pin play If you plan on changing a few kingpins, yes, it's worth buying the tool. to be honest, It's probably cheaper to get the tools than it is pay to have somebody else change it.
