Yes i quite agree. 85 was my top gps speed, I think the car would have done more, but my nerves certainly wouldn't I think its the way the tops of the doors suck out, whilst ones ears start to bleed, and the steering gets very light and twitchy that scares me the most. It does get fantastic expressions of shock and amazement from BMW drivers. Also factor in trying to steer with ones knees whilst trying to take photos of the speedo (obligatory at anything close to the Z speed) and you've got a far more exciting drive than any supercar could deliver.

 Re: Slow car.
I think that with cc's on the higher end of the bubble car scale and the aerodynamics of a housebrick they do pretty well ,and they'll do that all day no worries too

Erm, yes, but the extra weight of the chassis on the roof was helping to keep the van planted to the tarmac

ken wrote: james, nowt left to say, as you've covered it all, I reckon... Apart from what Citroen quoted as 'max speed' in their owner's manual. 115 kph (72 mph) approximately . That would have been on level ground in still air, so if you're willing to keep the right foot planted downhill with a following wind, valve bounce ( or the driver's nerves when the doors start flapping around) would probably be the limiting factor. ken Doors? What doors? Thanks for the replies. I've been thinking about it a bit more, and I recalled that the last time I owned a 2CV was in 1997. Since then, I've owned Rumble's old Acad and a Dyane, both of which had the 9:1 pistons and the forced air induction. So I'm probably used to even my A series Citroens being a bit quicker than a standard 2CV. But I feel happier about it now.

Sean I know this. But it was "slow" even with the doors on.
