Just finished a drum brake box build, so that idea will have to wait a while.)

Totally off topic ....[and prob'ly a waste of time too] .....but I've attached a hard drive magnet to my oil filter .....[my theory being that as there's always a furry black "mess" on the magnetic sump plug,it could just prolong engine life by keeping all all the crap in the filter before it even gets to the sump].......I always change the filter every 5/6000 miles anyway.
I was gonna do the same to my C4 [1.6hdi] .....until some-one pointed out to me that magnets and electronic engine management systems prob'ly dont mix too well.

Sorry for any confusion - we were talking about oil changes, not engine changes.

No, I change the engines but drain the oil from one to another. No point wasting...

Thanks for the advice there Ken. I'll try that technique out tomorrow on the other side.

I squeezed the pistons in on the cylinder to give myself some room. Was that a good idea? Should I wait untill things are centralised before I press the brake pedal?

Terry I find this a wonder.

Is the location of the magnet import?

Do you catch any bits on the way in or the way out?

Any chance of a picture?

Have you cleared the hardrive of data before fixing it, it could fall off and get in the wrong hands!
