Post Re: Testing Dynamo
I have disconnected the B, F and D cables from the regulator so the regulator is out of the circuit totally.

I have checked for earths on the dynamo itself on both the D+ pin (which is connected to a brush) and the F pin which is connected the the two smaller coil wires behind. I get no earth on the D+ until the brush rests on the copper. There is no earth on the F.

I then put a voltmeter between the D+ (regulator end) and earth. I got a max 2 volts. I then polarised the dynamo (the way 2CViking suggested) and the voltage has now come up to a max 4.8 Volts.

I connect the regulator back in circuit but there is no movement or sound from the regulator and my ignition light is still very bright.

Is it looking like the regulator does not match (it is some thing like NOSSO from Argentina) or will this not activate until I get 6 volts, in which case does it look to be the Dynamo...

Does anyone know of a good dynamo fixer that posts?

Cheers
Ian
PS - yes I have driven it not charging but not far, just wanted to have a go as I was waiting for a new fan to turn up and assumed the red ignition light stayed on as it has done since I bought it. Then when I could not start it, I asked the question

Post Re: Testing Dynamo
Hi Ian
Went on site in Argentina and found this information - used google translate

DINAMO-REGULADOR CONNECTION:

The regulator of the Dynamo that can be a CTF nosso. connects follows. The regulator has three terminals which are from left to right. D - F - BAT, seen from the front.

(1).In the Terminal D fine (GEN) Dynamo light cable and also the thick wire that goes to the Dynamo.

2) .in the Terminal F is a single cable that is the fine that goes to Dynamo.

(3). And in the BAT Terminal. or B. are all the rest of the wires that take power.

(4). Once connected all the cables in its corresponding place connect battery and exitar Dynamo with a wire between terminals D and B. that occurs a small spark, and start-up, that's the entire process that is deble do.

Also found info in Planete 2cv about 6volt dynamo etc and it says

Dyn - red wire
Exc - yellow wire
Bat - Blue

Looking at your picture you have red end wire going to D and red wire going to BAT

Maybe try swopping over?????
