I think water has quite a lot to do with rust.


But what does it matter if the door is rusty? As long as the hole isn't big enough to fall out of it shouldn't present any other problem.

Russell, you're right, there is not a problem with the door itself except from the cosmetic side.

Nevertheless I will drill a 6mm hole and spray wax again.

My acad has a hole in the bottom of each door, I always assumed they were drain holes for water working its way in down the side of the window...
