 Re: 123 ignition
I recently fitted a 123 and carefully followed the static timing instructions. When checked on a strobe though it was nearly 2 teeth out.
But fortunately it completely cured the points scatter where I could see 2 definite teeth as in the pic below (which is a mock up of how mine looked with the old points set up when checked with a strobe).

 Re: 123 ignition
I think Bugster means that he set the timing for the 123 by lining up the dots as per the insructions,Static, then when he checked it with a strobe, dynamic,it was 2 teeth out.Mine did the same thing,I just used the strobe to set it at max. Advance.Sorted.I think Bugster did the same

1 more time STATIC is for when the the engine is STATIC ie stopped, switched off not mooving - bleedin dead As soon as it starts the ADVANCE advances the timing and so you get the second mark. Dont mix and match your timing techniques - if you have a strobe set the max advance with that, I have yet to see any reason why static should be the preffered method other than you can do it in a field with a tent peg. dave - calmed down a little

 Re: 123 ignition
123 is shit. No, it's really shit! Charging issues on the van meant that it wouldn't run because the battery was getting a bit low on power. Points and condensor will be fitted soon. Tonights recovery truck was cool though thanks to Tev from this parish.
