Just an idea, but if you jack it up, take the wheel off to make it easier, then disconnect the shocker and the tie rod. This will allow you to rotate the arm on it's bearing freely where I would suspect you'd feel the bearing rumbling if that is what it is. If no noise or play is detectable, maybe pop the shocker back on and move the arm through it's arc again to see if that shows up as being noisy or failing. Does the damper work properly or is that corner extra bouncy? I don't think I've ever heard a shocker make noise when failing but worth checking it while you're there. Also look for simple things, exhaust touching the arm when bounced, debris caught up in the tie rod, next doors cat stuck in the rear wing etc. Arm bearings aren't a total nightmare to change, so dont fret of that's what it is.

We had a rear swing arm on and off like a fiddlers elbow at 2CV tech last year as we didn't realise the replacement was off a Fourgonette and the axle/journal is bigger than the saloon ! Hence we couldn't get the brake drum back on. The worst/fiddly bit is getting the brake pipe coil to locate, but a cleft stick sorted that. No special tools were needed ( other than the stick).Just normal tools, common sense and the gentle use of a Birmingham screwdriver ( hammer).
