Can anyone shed some light on what is needed to get the charging light working on my van.I am sure I read somewhere that there should be some sort of relay/diode behind the dash.If so,I need one :o

Dave,
for the original setup to work, you need the correct type of alternator, as well as the transistorised 'box of tricks' which was parked on the engine side of the bulkhead.

Both items are nigh on impossible to find nowadays (with the electronic box rumoured to be as rare a find as a 'restaurated' 1960s car which still has drum brakes and a smaller than 602 engine).

Hi Dave.

This is what you want citroen part C-AY614176A

They where also fitted on some Mehari models.

These people list it in there price list.
http://parts2cv.tripod.com/
Relay, charge warning lite Mehari C-AY614176A $ 40

Not a clue exactly where they are only an email address on the website
Contact Pablo Colombo :-parts2cv@hotmail.com

Some of our American friends maybe able to help as they where fitted to all Mehari in the states.

I have attached the wiring diagram of the Mehari showing the connections.

Peter

Unfortunately,
the clue should have been in the prices listed, which are far too low for Citroen parts in the USA nowadays. :(
