 Starter motor
Hey, I'm having a bit of a problem with my starter motor. I may have burnt it out . Just wondering how hard/easy it is to rebuild > clean, or just replace. The car itself didn't come with the starter motor or battery leads, + and - were missing. I had to buy all these, so there isn't a problem with wiring, and shouldn't be with the motor, as it's a new 2cv city one.

 Re: Starter motor
It's not difficult to strip and clean a starter motor, but if it's a new one it won't need it. If you've 'burnt it out' that's different, and no amount of cleaning it is going to help.
Perhaps elaborate on what you've done to it, and what it's now failing to do.

 Re: Starter motor
+1 for Jools, whats the symtoms with the motor? if its purchased new and not working then phone the vendor and ask for a replacement - unless thats already been done, the "Burnt out" sounds like the usual shite advice that comes from that emporium. Starter motors are tough bits of kit to do hard work its not like the itsy bitsy fairy motors in a cd drive or drawer. If you connected it to the battery you only have 12v and 30a to play with and that is what a starter needs to turn- unless you did something really stupid like wired it to the mains

 Re: Starter motor
Thanks for the input, its really weird as it works sometimes (mainly off the car). But doesn't other times (mainly on the car) . I'm doing nothing different between the two, so i don't know wether it is burnt out or not And cheers Ken but i've got one
