Guys here i am again ( did i mentioned that i am a pain in the a**)

The 2cv have a leak on the connection of the silencer and the exhaust pipe ! I dont know how this happened but i can tell that the v female on the silencer is not complete straight . So if i put my finger on the bottom of the connection i can feel a lot of quantity of gas coming out. !

I know that there are some glues that i can put there but i am not sure that it will solve my problems as it is difficult for me to give the right shape to the adhesive that i ll put on the silencer to match the pipe on the connection. On the other hand if i unscrew the other clamps that holding the exhaust from the cylinders and change the position of the silencer then i ll have a leak from the these two clamps.

I am also thinking of welding a small piece of pipe on the inside of the silencer . I am not sure though that i will manage to straight the connection of the pipe and the silencer after that .

So waht do you think is there an easy way of fixing this ?

ps . Those clamps that holding the exhaust what is the diameter of the holes for the screw? I am putting a M7 diameter screw but if i tight them too much then the screw get damage.

if its the silencer under the gearbox we call that the "crossbox" and the one under the floor the "torpedo"

if you have a leak on one side of the cross box its often due to the heat exchangers/heater tubes needing to be aligned better its not usually possible to just move the cross box .

Try loosening the 2 joints at the manifold on the engine as well and rotating the heat exchanger/ heater tubes to get a better alignment of the joints. Then you have to tighten up slowly and gradually a little at a time always making sure nothing moves. A small ammount of "exhaust assembly paste" which acts as a lubricant allowing the joints to fit, will help.

Thanks Sean once more. Yea it is the crossbox. Is it a silencer or not ? I had that concern from the days we keep using the 2cv for every day moving. So when i put the engine on and managed to start the car i ve notice that leak on the top of the engine at the exhast pipes. I loose them added some grease and tight them back, . Before i ve supported the crossbox at the right position . So there was only the one between the crossbox and pipe left. I loose the M7 screws put some permatex glue or something like that put some M6 with bolts only on the half of it and tighted them back. Now it seems there is no leaking from that point too. The permatex suggest that aftrer a half pf a hour to start the engine and leave it running for ten minutes. I ve started the engine after a hour dur to low temps outside ( 10c) and left it for about 5 minutes. Tomorow i ll check it further.
