orange wire is 12v the blue or black is earth and whats left, yellow? is the trigger from whatever is doing the job of points.But as its new there will be instructions

Sean no instructions, think he brought it to fit to the bike and then sold the bike, with have a look at teh wires tomorrow.

Sean before I do the wiring advice please

on the back of the the gauge it has

IGN+ (this I assume goes to the ignition) ?
Trig (down to the coil) ?
and the earth just goes on one of the fitting bolts?
Ive got the light one :mrgreen:

ooh that is an old one! yes earth through the mountings like an old radio ign is switched +12( or like mine itll run the battery down) and you may have to dig out the lumi instructions but trigger will normally be be the switching -ve side of the coil.

thanks Sean thought that, old one yes, never been fitted though! the newer ones have the built in wiring don't they,
