Post Re: Wheels chassis
They were one of the first companies to offer aftermarket chassis back in the early '90s. I know from bitter experience that some of the earlier ones had dimensional issues - sometimes things didn't line up properly, particularly at the front (bonnet not lining up with headlight bar, wing mountings having to be bent/adapted to fit etc).

Later ones I think were better though. Quite a heavy and stiff chassis too.

Now defunct I think, haven't heard of them for ages.

I had a feeling they are, or at least were until recently, in production in France?

Post Re: Wheels chassis
My Plums and Custard came to me with a "Wheels Roadrunner Galvanised Chassis". The invoice is from Frome 2CV centre dated 1998. There was a lot of other work done, but the chassis part was £550 plus VAT. All before I owned it.

Whilst off the road at the moment, this was my daily driver for many years and indeed been to France in it and some other long trips too. It certainly seems to handle just fine.

I saw this thread earlier today and subsequently looked under the car to have a check. Its actually in perfect condition, the galvanising is all still good, its all looking fine and as I say drove just great too.

If you are buying new there are now many other options available (some just a mere message away of course ;) and I dont want to open a chassis debate.

If you are buying second hand and its the right price, then all I can say is Im pleased with the one thats currently on my car.

Mine's a wheels I think. All I can say is I confirm all of the above. It's over eight years old but still like new, but the front panels need jiggling to sit right. As for 'handling' I have no idea. That's a motorbike term for me. It goes round corners, that's all cars do really.
