 Re: Chassis woes
Yeah ours has a shitty chassis and it's got front tow hooks. I also know a guy who had a head on crash with one of these chassis' and literally everything infront of the bulk head was bent upwards, with one of the arms cracking at kick-up as said, and also Alan Makin says the main chassis repair he does these days is welding back on the shockabsorber mountings on these. Anyway hey ho, I'll probably rag ours to death and smash it to pieces if I lower it even slightly. That's why I don't know if I want to or not. Anyway it'll be a decent chassis next time if/when this one falls apart.

Our old Frome chassis had towing eyes.... And, regarding Seans comment about the Northern peoples chassis, when Rachaels old 2CV (which was on a 2c**ity chassis) broke down on the A38M in Birmingham, she had to be towed off by the boys in blue. They (the police) recommended that Rachael should shove the chassis up the suppliers arse as they felt the towing eyes were completely unsafe and were genuinely worried that they would snap clean off the chassis.....

 Re: Chassis woes
I have a 2cv City Chassis and 4 years, 40,000 miles, 1 rear shunt and umpteen whacks of the tow hitch on speed humps it seems ok so far. It's towed (not all at once!!) a fully loaded camping trailer, a Mehari, a 14ft boat and a (much heavier) 10ft boat with a tow hitch thats bolted to the rear kick ups
Only issue was it spitting shock absorber retaining bolts (twice). I would prefer it if the tow hitch was horizontal as opposed to vertical like the original, but it does the trick. The towing eye has been used (got towed by my dad after the alternator died), we towed her about 6 miles and on another occasion I wedged her, quite literally, between a rock and a hard place and were pulled out by a transit.
Touch wood eh?
*I'm not advocating or endorsing a 2cv City Chassis, just saying its never given me any issues so I can't complain. It was what I could afford and it was that chassis or no chassis!
