 Citroen Acadiane - accelerator dropped
Hi
I recently bought an Acadiane. Yesterday I went to start it and the accelerator pedal dropped. It now won't start - turns over ok and has petrol, charged battery but the accelerator pedal remains dropped to the floor and therefore can't rev the engine.
Any ideas?

Sara, think you may need one of these... < http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/accelerat ... p-101.html > Although it may be worth having a peep under the bonnet first, in case it's the throttle spring which has broken rather than the cable. ken

I'd go with Kens second guess as my first choice - throttle spring. Had one go while overtaking a lorry on the M42 once. Always carry a spare now.

Re: Citroen Acadiane - accelerator dropped
if it was the throttle RETURN spring the engine would rev excessively would it not as it pulls the throttle shut.

Re: Citroen Acadiane - accelerator dropped
Graham, I was working along the lines that if the spring is broken, so that the throttle is stuck wide open, the engine is much less likely to start. In cold weather, even with the choke on, the 'priming' given by the accelerator pump after a few pumps of the pedal will usually contribute to an easy start. I'd guess you never had to bother with that business of 'tickling' the carb on old Brit bikes? < http://www.sump-publishing.co.uk/bsa%20m20.htm > ken ginger bloke wrote: if it was the throttle RETURN spring the engine would rev excessively would it not as it pulls the throttle shut.
