I'm wanting some trim rings for the wheels on my 2CV.

I found some on Ebay listed for a 2CV but they are expensive as well as the shipping to the USA.

I've installed these stainless versions on other cars but have never used any that are made of ABS. Like these:

I question how long these things would last before the chrome plating started to flake off. I've got a couple of those battery powered kid's cars and the chrome plating tends to flake off in no time. But my daughter tends to let these cars sit out in the weather where my Citroen stays in the garage when not driven. So they might hold up better.

I'm also not a big fan of ABS in general. My 98 Chevy van had an ABS body kit and it cracked all the hell. Mainly from road debris.

The cheaper rings are the 1.5"/40 mm deep which seem to be the thinnest I've seen so far. I'm thinking 1"/ 25 mm deep would be a more appropriate size.

Any idea if these would fit the stock 2CV rims?

Any of you guys using trim rings? If so could you measure yours to see if these are about the same depth for I order them? Thanks.

The 2cvs had often rings that were fitted under the hubcaps made of thin aluminium. You did see this also a lot on old VWs they have the same wheel size.
Your rings are available at ecas maybe you can see the dept there. But they give scratches and rust in your wheels.

I agree. 2CVs are about minimalism "Less is More" philosophy. But each to their own.

Well, I know what your saying. Too much flash is too much flash. The 2CV does have some aluminum trim pieces and SS center caps. So it wouldn't be like installing them on a car with no shiny metallic bits and all.

I remembered having some 13" trim rims I installed on some Fiat steelies I had on another 124 Spider I used to own back in the 90s I had stashed in my barn loft.

For some reason, the edges of a couple of these wheels were chewed up but for some reason hold air just fine.

After I had the wheels sandblasted and I repainted them, the edges looked awful so I installed the trim rims to cover up the damage.

Either someone drove the car on blown out tires some some backyard mechanic swapped tires using some unorthodox method. The best I can remember the entire lip was not boogered up, just certain sections.

I've used large screwdrivers and crow bars to swap tires on lawnmowers but never actually damaged the rim in the process.
