 Looking for recommended body repairers
About to take my '86 2cv for MOT. Should pass chassis/body-wise because last year I had a good look underneath during the test and could see no corrosion. Even the tester commented how rust free it was.
However, the nearside rear belt fixing is duff, (I take the seat out together with the belts for the test). Also the rear lower sweeps are completely rusted. I would like to have these areas repaired.
Can anyone recommend a body repairer who is familiar with 2cvs. I live in the Bromley, Kent area but I can take it further afield if the recommendation is glowing.
Are the available repair panels a boon to any repairer or do they prefer to make their own?
Any suggestions welcome. Many thanks.

Will at Cambridge 2cv does most of my bodywork repair, and I've always been very happy with the results. http://www.cambridge2cvltd.co.uk/

Thanks for your replies and the info.
I would prefer to drive South, to Kent or Sussex.

Re: Looking for recommended body repairers
Mine was worked on by a fantastic guy in Sussex but i'll have to dig out his details, if he's still doing it. I had the car re-chassis'd with a 'Wheels' chassis and he replaced floors, bulkhead, fixed rear seatbelt mounts etc. Zero corrosion on any of those parts after all this time so I am impressed.
I'll see about the info for you.

Simon Day is in Sussex. I believe he trades under the name Driving Spirit. He doesn't seem to have a website yet, but is on facebook.

Re: Looking for recommended body repairers
There is a map / directory of 2cv mechanics on the ECAS site: http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/info_pages.php?pages_id=23When I lived in Sussex a few years ago I used Just 2cv, Mark always did good work for me. He's listed on that map as: Just 2cv Mark Evans. Maintenance, bodywork, welding, MOT preparation. Telephone: 01273 495 600

Sorry for the delay, kept forgetting.
Mine was done by 'Just 2cv', Unit 7, Stretham Farm, West Mill Lane, West Sussex, 01273 495600.
Ages ago now though, 2003.

Re: Looking for recommended body repairers
Thanks for the info.
Just got new MOT today, (I had removed the rear seat!), so I have some breathing space for the repairs.
Now got a gearbox issue which I shall post shortly.
