 Steering Rack Questions? Have an axle tube that was labeled Mehari?
Seems the angle of the pinion is different to a standard rack?
Any ideas?

The rack has large teeth and the pinion (similar to a 2cv) but has 7 teeth.

Any ideas? I know the AMI6 is different from a 2CV. The AMI6 has a very steep steering column, so the steering wheel is positioned pretty flat, like an old bus. So does the Mehari, judging by the position of the steering wheel. Don't know if the Mehari has a joint in the column? If not, it's not the same as a 2CV. (If by "standard rack" you mean a 2CV one)
