testing? just put it in knowing you have built it properly

tight rocker shafts? guess you mean the "Peg Bolts" the oval headed affairs. Use either a couple of good 6mm spanners doubled up or a good quality shifter, as you apply force to the spanner hit the head of the bolt a couple of good sharp taps to waken it up. It helps to have the head in a vice or temporarily on the engine to give you a stable base. Replace the peg bolts with 35mm M8 cap head setscrews (allen bolts).

Undoing the cotter wedges on the valve spring retainers? place the head on a wheel chock so the heads of the valves touch the top of the chock. place a 17mm socket over the valve stem and tap it. if its hard and the hammer rings the cotters aren't free you know they have freed when the socket and hammer bounce on the spring - you'll get the feel.

then its on with spring compressor and fish the cotters out with a mag tool or small pokey screwdriver

Sean
Hope top tips are on time
