Good news.

After much swearing, some new bits and a generously borrowed/stolen carb, the Ami passed it's MOT today and did it's first miles in 20-odd years.

The downside now is that it's quite a bit down on power, and seems to only do about 45 on the flat. The carb that's currently fitted is from a later 2CV that was running well. Does this just mean we need to change the jets to suit?

Anyway, we're quite happy now that it is back on the road, makes testing a lot easier, and besides the power deficiency seems to be running well. :)

Could be a number of things - air leaks around carb and intake manifold to cylinder heads, timing, valve clearances, shite leads, plugs, coil, points, capacitor........just need to eliminate them......
