Post Engine type
for the nutters: which engine have I?

Working on the engine I got extra when I bought the Ami 4 years ago. seller told me it was the original engine that was taken out of the car..
Should be a 35HP

Engine:
External oil filter
Baffle plate(?)in sump
No oil pressure sensor
Extra thick flywheel
No enginenumber plate
Cooling cowl with turbo
Ami 8 airfilter (behind headlamps)
Double barrek carb without the vacuumthing that falls off

Some pictures:

Anyone seen this before?

Extra thick flywheel? I only know them without the extra edge next to the teeth..

There never ever seems to be a plate here...

Car was first put on the road on 31-07-1968.

According to Cats site the ami should be a 35HP version:
Chassis number 2356**
1968 35hp Club: 230000 - 236344

That plate on picture 2 suggests that it is a reconditioned engine, probably from Vege.

afaia for 35HP dyane and ami 602 (AM2) engines these thing are different from normal 2cv (m28) engines:
9:1 compression pistons
21/24 carb
forced air inlet from the fan
probably no fan protection?
+I definitly forget something ;)

the size of the choke for the carb is cast into the body" 21 24" for the early engines

looks like a recon early Ami/Dyane. iLiked the emulsion plate my first Dyane had one.

Ami 6 never had an external oilfilter.... So no original Ami 6 engine (but this is better for oiltemp and debrie)

I wonder if that's related to the lack of oil filter on the original engine...?

In a way, I'm not sure it matters what it was back then. Apart from the tinware (bolt-on), pistons/barrels and compression ratio (probably need replacing anyway) and carb (bolt-on), what else "defines" it? Did cam profiles differ?

after trawling through many parts books it would seem all the cams were the same. ( though there were variations within the allowable tolerances) Ive yet to find anything to confirm that Dyane Acad Ami or 2cv had anything different or that valve timing was anything different across the M28 build despite "Dyane" cams being considered "Hot" in some circles

 awesome  a friend from Hamburg insisted that his dyane cam was "hotter" than a 2cv cam and indeed the top of the lobe seemed wider...
So I took it to the Burton rebuild shop as the bearing was gone and we held it next to a new cam, yes the top was wider, but just worn off...
