SORRY KEN

Do not glue the joint like you say. Slip the length up the shaft before jointing to lower part and then slip down afterwards and hold with jubilee clips (like you said).

Too flimsy, compared to the original item, I'd reckon.

Plus it's not available in yellow... ;)

Post Re: Steering column
A quick update - working out how to put the universal joint back together again was a real ba***rd. It only seems to go together and lock together one way and finding that way was like doing a Rubiks Cube! Many hours later it suddenly all went together and locked together - I have no idea how! All suggestions for a 'cover' taken on board but not executed as it is now locked in place and staying that way by being connected back to the steering pinion before it comes apart again! So the solution will be done in situ.

Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions

Well done,
Not sure if anyone mentioned that the GS has a double universal joint steering shaft, so it could be worthwhile getting one as a spare, cutting it in half will give you 2.
Although they are the same tooth count they look larger size (bulkier) then the obe you have. I can't fibd pics of the one I'm using on my 2cv...
