Post I2F tour of NW Scotland??
Anybody fancy a trip upto north-west Scotland, maybe sometime in spring? Thought it would be a good excuse to meet up and have a road trip in one of the most beautiful parts of this wonderful planet we inhabit. Perhaps meet at Loch Lomond and drive up over Rannoch Moor and down Glen Coe to Fort William, then over to Skye and maybe up to Cape Wrath and John O'Groats? Give your thoughts here :) We can discuss when/where and options.

Look forward to hearing from one or two of you ;)

Definately up for this, can we try and book some good weather, I seem to remember Scotland being quite wet :?

Seriously though, sounds good, how about Easter time?

Well I was hoping for two replies to this thread and thankfully I've got 'em

Easter sounds good(though no idea what dates it is yet) and I'm happy to thrash out an itinerary(we do have all of Autumn and Winter, so no rush). If there's a particular place anybody wants to visit, then post it here 8-)

I'm off to Scotland on Monday, for a week, so I'm hoping for good weather over the coming 8-9 days. Just taken a look at the BBC weather and apart from Tuesday, it's looking good up to Thursday. :)

I've spent time in the far NW, it's something else. The Pass of the Cattle (to Applecross) is awesome when the cloud isn't down. Good campsite and pub in Across, but talking to people recently suggests it's all getting a bit too well known. Most of the road(s) from Kyle to Ullapool are spectacular in one way or another, many very fast too, providing you are prepared to not slow down for faster corners and so maintain momentum. This is where a decent chassis is helps you be faster - even if it is heavier :D

Ullapool Northwards is mind-bending. Somewhere I have a quote from Phil LLewellyn about the drive along that road, must dig it out. Round past the Summer Isles, Lochinver area, all spell-binding.

We completely circled the Highland on the 2cv Eight Ball Rally last year. Going again in the opposite direction next year.

:D :D :D :D

Right, I've postponed the trip till tomorrow(Tuesday), as the weather in Scotland isn't favourable over the next 24-36hrs. By driving up tomorrow, I can drive through the rain and then enjoy lovely weather for the rest of the week :D Also, it means I can get along to WASPs(the local 2cv club)meeting, this evening :P Hopefully see you there Spanners.

Good webcam here at Eilean Donan Castle near Kyle of Lochalsh, you can control the camera to choose from eight views - and it's in real time! Weather at the moment (1.20 pm, Monday) looks reasonable. The sky is bright and the Cuillins are visible, always a good sign!

Here's a good weather link from Ullapool's great outdoor shop.

HAVE A GOOD TRIP!!! and don't forget to grease the kingpins...

PS What's the exchange rate at the mo? Image - I hear Scottish money is worth more... and no jokes about how wire was invented!
