Had a thought Tom, are you planning this for 2010? If so, how about an Autumn camp? That way you'd be able to advertise and take pre-bookings at the inter-national next summer. That's what Liz did with her camp cornballs.

Post Re: Cornwall camp poll..
ahahahaha autumn?

this weekend was cold enough for camping... sitting outside etc etc

if your gna have a camp.... i agree with the "sort out a local" idea.... spending the night getting drunk in a pub with your mates is the way it should be :)

tom.... have you considered going to a camp yourself? instead of making the camp come to you, if "you" want to see more of them then maybe "you" should make the effort to see them? i think once you've actually been to a camp of your own and reaslised how much organising it takes, it may open your eyes a little...

Speak to Louise Brookes, she's made a fabulous book of "how to organise a national meet" im sure there are a few helpful tips in there that could be of good use!

fankoo Russ. Info taken onboard. Joing 2cvGB very soon. :P

What sort of prices did you get from the toilet people? I'm guessing you're a member of 2cvgb now, it's well worth it, especially if you want to set up a local 2cv group. Any joy speaking to Kim?

In addition to Russell's incredibly helpful and informative guide to running a successful show, I figured I'd pitch in with some extra advice, and a map which will hopefully help you in times to come.

You'll DEFINITELY need two entry points, in case the front entrance becomes blocked (which can, and does, happen on a regular basis). In such cases, it's never a problem when you can slip into the rear.

Make sure you chop down any bush or foliage from the front entrance. Not only is it unsightly, it can be a health hazard. You can leave a small area if you wish to mark the actual entrance, but keep it neat. That's how they do things at shows in Brazil, believe it or not!

Mark out a spot near the rear entrance, this is where you'll need your Main Ring. This is the focal point of your show.

Your Eating Area needs to be carefully positioned between the front and rear entrances, but not so close to the main ring as to create problems with mud, especially if things get moist down there in Cornwall. Whereas a slippery front entrance can be fun, there's nothing worse than a slimy ring! That happened to me once at a Military Show, I got my weapon completly stuck in the Main Ring and it took HOURS to pull me off.

I hope this helps.

 indeed, sound advice.

At Helmsley, I completely avoided the rear entrance as it was dirty and slippery, the main entrance was well manned, with plenty of willing helpers to give me a hand getting in. I thought the camping area, where I do like to lay my head after a good session eating out, was a bit spread out. I prefer my camping areas to be circular and firm, not to squishy as you tend to sink in and get lost :?
