I've just got back from this great event, in North Wales. It was good fun, although poor old Russ and Neil have had a nightmare of a weekend, and I hope they get home soon, one way or another.

Here are my pics. They're a bit dull, but they'll give you an idea! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... =825285421

Got home about 10ish this morning - Russ is still on the road (or in Gary's garage) Had a nightmare journey home...

Thanks to Wal & Louise for their efforts - the bunk barn was sweet! Not convinced that North Wales is for me though!

Sorry to hear you guys had such a mission getting home, was good to meet you though, and every body else.

North Wales? it's alright for a visit but I wouldn't want to live there!

4am Friday morning, near my girlfriends house in Littlehampton...

6am Friday, near Dorchester, the wipers froze to the windscreen...

Ready for the off...

About 2pm Friday, Staffordshire. Car looking a bit travel stained...

And here's where things started to go wrong....

Image

The pub carpark, full of 2CVs.

Raffle...

Image

3pm Saturday, "scenic" drive, tore the undertray off and bent the front shock absorbers.

Image
Image

Just after deciding to leave the "scenic" drive and make our own way back to the accomodation, we have our first proper breakdown. Only a coil wire fallen off, but still, a breakdown nonethelesss, in the middle of the wilderness...

note the front bumper which had been damaged on the kerb outside our first night stop, along with this, the undertray and shockers were to be the first casualties of many...

4pm Saturday, trying to find the overnight stop, wildly lost, not very happy!

9am Sunday morning, wake up warm and toasty, lovely.

11am Sunday, homeward bound, I fell slightly ill...

we stopped three or four times after this for me to be sick, then the last time, we didn't stop at all and I was ill in the car. Bad times...

Image
Image
Image

..But not as bad as this. 2pm Sunday, oil feed pipe to o/s head breaks and spews oil forth, the recovery company will only take us to one adress, so instead of electing to go to either of our houses, we get the car recovered to a 2CV specialist called Gary Dicks near Warminster.

Image

4pm sunday, 1st beavertail of the weekend...

Unfortunately, the next bit of the weekend went un-photographed, but it involved not being able to fit an engine, borrowing a Dyane, staying in a hotel, driving Neil home, collecting another engine, driving the Dyane back to Garys, breaking down-lots, fitting the orginal engine with no clutch and getting recovered not far from Garys house...

Image
Image

7pm Monday, 2nd beavertail of the weekend.

Image

9:30pm Monday relayed home from Fleet services, 3rd Beavertail of the weekend.

Image

Home at last. Nearly 2 days late, with a car needing:

Front shock absorbers
Undertray
Gearbox
Oil feed pipe
Exhaust

All in all, a good weekend for most, for us, a right shambles, and a car needing a rebuild.
