Thought it would be interesting hear about what people are doing for Drive it Day, 21st April.

This year, my group, the Pompey Puddleducks, are joining the Hayling Legends for their Drive it Day event:

Anyone else doing something special?

Hugo and I will be travelling to Melton Autograss, supporting 2CV racers Steve Walford and Nick Clarke (car 55) by attending the track that they help run. It's a fun day out if anyone else wants to Drive It somewhere; plenty of action - loud, fast and dirty! :D
On the drive over there last year, I met quite a few other classics out &about in the Warwickshire and Leicestershire countryside 8-)

I will be in Scotland on Drive It Day 2013 - with my classic, (not the 2CV) but at a Imp club gathering :D Will look out for 2CVs on the road and give them a wave, as I always do

8-)

I'll be working on 'Drive it Day', but I'm off to Shetland on April 29th and taking the 2CV (had it serviced in readiness, last week). Will be introducing it to its new home. :)

I'm going to hug trees and not waste fuel.

I drive mine most days anyway. Not a fan of Drive It Day, personally; it seems to me that it makes out that classic cars are for high days and holidays rather than practical vehicles in their own right.

Use it as an opportunity to prove otherwise; when people ask about your car, tell them how often and for what purpose you use it - mine is almost daily and for carrying all sorts of stuff, as well as for all the fun times...

Every day is drive-it day. It's a car, a tool for moving me and goods around the country. I don't have a special day for using, say, knives and forks, nor do I cherish and store my spanners until a certain day where I use them for no real practical purpose. I've probably spent too much time thinking about this today, but the idea of a special day solely to use something I regard as an everyday utility doesn't work out in my mind. Yes, I may well drive it that day but only if I need to go somewhere.

I entirely agree Mark, good point well made. Mine's an (almost) daily driver too, but I'll still enjoy DiD as well as other club and non club runs/shows etc. From my experience, people remember these cars and are quite surprised to see them still around. Don't forget, there's a least one generation of drivers, possibly more, who will never have seen or heard of a 2CV.
