Sunday 17th Feb., terminating at the facinating and unique Hovercraft Museum at Lee-on-the-Solent. We had dry and sunny conditions for the whole day which made it doubly enjoyable. Thanks to all involved for a lovely days 2cv-ing lol.

Wow, that last picture of the Prices Margaret and Anne! Been on both of those when Hoverspeed ruled the channel. Trips to the continent in Dad's GS then BX  Glad they have not been scrapped, those Roll Royce jet engines were feckin loud  A boat that hovers AND has flames coming out the back, it just didn't get any cooler....unless you could afford Concord

According to our guide, the whole site is on a short lease but they are hopeful that they'll be able to stay. As he said, if they do have to move "how do you move two 178 ton dead Hovercraft?" Amazingly, they rely on donations and a volunteer staff, no full time people at all. No Lottery funding either, or similar. I thought it incredibly sad, not to mention rather stupid, that this country is happy to leave the preservation of this part of its maritime heritage entirely to enthusiasts with no Govt. support and therefore no guarantee of continuation either.
