Right then you lot, here's a date for your diary.

February 8th - 10th 2013

Firkin Freezin will be down in the Derbyshire Lowlands for a change.

The Ostrich
Longford
Derbyshire

It's got a massive field, easy going landlords, decent food and beer and a bonfire if we can get some timber sorted.

See you there?

After my dismal failure attending the Welsh party camp last weekend (I can't bring myself to use the word "wezzin'", I'm afraid  ), I'm wary of promising to be anywhere. But the winter camps were always my favourite ones, and I've got some fond memories of Firkin Freezing camps back in the early '90s, so I'll really try and make this one. I should be able to bring some broken palets to burn too.

I hope they sort the beer out. I was in there the other Saturday for lunch. The Hobgoblin was lousy, so I took it back and got a Pedigree which was also lousy. Soapy, metallic tasting and a thin fat like crazy paving scum floating on the top like dirty dishwater instead of a head. I went bottled instead. The food wasn't much better either. It's a nice location for Firkin though, and it's not put me off, but I am worried about the provision of a decent pint and some food. I wouldn't go back outside of this event.

Other peoples experiences may of course be better, I could have caught them on a bad day.

I tend to take my own food to the 'pub based' camps and drink too, before heading in to socialise. Eating/drinking in the pub all weekend makes for an expensive weekend!

If I get one of the cars back on the road (and if I'm still using the train in feb, shoot me) I might pop along to this. I've only done one 2cv camp this year, must put more effort in!

The beer seemed alright when we there for a stag do... perhaps it gets better the more you drink! The food won't win awards I'll grant you, but then again gastropubs aren't that likely to want 30+ pissed, wet and muddy loons rampaging about the place.

As a Firkin Freezin venue it'll do fine.

Frankly I think the use of 'Firkin' in the title of an event in poor taste. The laddish play on words does little to disguise the underlying intent.

Man the fuck up and give your camp a real name.

 That's Firkin as in dirty great big barrel of beer. Any smutty innuendo is purely unintentional. Honest.
