Managed to get down on the Sunday. Parked the Berlingo up next to a beautiful DS near the arena, oddly satisfying. Saw a lot of familiar faces from on here, but too bloody shy to speak to anyone, not having a 2cv as an icebreaker didn't help! Great to meet Roy from ECAS too, a good thing I don't have anything at the minute as I would have spent a fortune at that stall. Was advised that buying an Ami isn't the best idea for someone wanting an easy life, but after seeing some of the great examples there I can't shake the idea off. Some of my highlights: Can't believe I got to see this in the flesh: My personal favourite, could have happily taken this home there and then: Seen so many pics of this famous van, great to see it, we loved the interior: If I had to have a DS... Perfect: Lust for a GS didn't wane either, some great examples: Saw Neil's yellow 2cv parked up right near the gents late on Sunday, must have been in a rush... |

Quote: Was advised that buying an Ami isn't the best idea for someone wanting an easy life, but after seeing some of the great examples there I can't shake the idea off Why not buy an Ami? They are much cheaper to buy than a 2cv in France. A 2cv is easier screwed together yes... ...but Ami' s drive more comfortable, less noise, faster ride... Yes they rust very fast, but so does a 2cv... |

Amis are better than Dyanes, in much the same way as Dyanes are better than 2cvs. The only thing I missed when I had the Ami was the ability to remove the roof and the doors in nice weather. |

Had a chat with the owner of Russ' old Ami, he's a nice chap and really likes the car. Glad you liked the van Alkie Shame I didn't actually see you! I agree that DS was awesome, I believe it's actually an SM underneath and was used to prototype the SM running gear and was then successfully rallied. |

The van looked great Sam, was the first thing I saw when driving into the site, it came flying out the campsite with the doors open. Its what I should have done with the Acadiane. If you don't mind me asking where did you get those shelving units from? They looked vaguely Ikea-ish but couldn't tell. Going to try and get some for my van after I've done the floor. I have decided that I want an Ami, am prepared to do a mission over the channel if need be. Now that I have bought this Berlingo as the motorway/winter hack, I maybe am at the right time to return to the things. Just have to flog my Volvo to buy it, that I've just spent a fortune on rebuilding the brakes, three times as much as its worth (hate doing that, if it was an Ami or any other 'classic', it would be adding some sort of value to it). I have though set up a Citroen savings account, currently sticking £100 in a month. Why you need to know all this I don't know...just feels good talking about it... I think what I'm worried about (and what I've been told) with Amis is the availability of panels, and I'm on such a tight budget, but am prepared to be told different. But, I'm not far from NES, so with that and the club and here, I should have some resources in case it needs anything hard-to-get. Anyway, this is a thread about ICCCCCCCCCR photos and I'm going off-topic. |

Nice to see the Ami again. It looks exactly the same as the day it left here. |
