Hi Dave,

That is the case at most events, however it also means that you get to choose where you want to camp and there is definately no waiting to get in. I have never been to any event and I have helped at many, where the 'helping team' don't pay.

Here is alist of some more areas volunteers are needed to help at the ICCCR, they are all within the Entertainments area and include:

Lighting and Sound Technicians
Venue Managers
Stagehands
Buskers

Please contact me if you are interested in helping.

Sorry, that's how it is. These events rarely have budget to pay for helpers to get free entry. I paid and helped at the World Meeting in 2005, paid and helped run the 2CVGB national in 2009 and have paid and will help at the ICCCCCCCR. I'm hoping more sleep can be achieved than I managed at the previous two! (our National was very hard work, especially when trying to function at work the following Tuesday...)

Besides, it avoids getting 'blaggers' who promise to help, then do the square root of sod all once they've got their tent up.

So, I asked the following question of the organisers:

Quote:
Hi, does 'family' include the driver's partner. I've had a few enquiries from members who want to drive one car and have their girlfriend/boyfriend/partner/civil partner driving the second vehicle. I think it amounts to does 'family' include partner's to whom you're not married and those who may have a different surname?

And got the following response:

Quote:
Hi Sam,
Yes Family includes, partners, spouses, girl or boyfriends, children and friends driving cars owned by the primary owner.

Example:
I have 4 Citroens whcih I will be taking:
I paid the £50 advance fee
I paid £10 each for my brothers in law to drive my other 3 vehicles to the event.

NOTE: Provided that the "Main Driver", "Spouse", "Partner" or Children owns the vehicle(s) then a non-family member could attend as a passenger > 16 driving the additional vehicles.

So, I'm looking for people to drive my other two A Series to Harrogate willing to split the £80 entrance plus 4x £10 entry between us.

Are you actually looking for volunteers Sam? I had pretty much ruled this out as too expensive seeing as I usually travel on my own, but if it works out at around £20 plus fuel, then I could be swayed. Although I refuse to drive a D*lly!

I've not driven a mehari before, but I'm game for that, I'll assume it's like a motorbike but quite a lot slower.
It'd be a bit of a shame not to have my car there, but not enough to make me pay full price. I wonder how they actually enforce the car ownership thing, think they'll ask to see V5s on the gate?
