I'm always dubious about getting involved with the political side of clubs - I find it can take away from the enjoyment somewhat :(

IMHO there's as much wrong with wanting to "get involved" as not wanting to: Absolutley nothing. If you want to do it, fair play and thanks, if you don't fair play also.

Some people want to sit back and enjoy the ride some want to drive it. Either way is a matter of personal choice. Yeah if we all became riders rather than drivers there would be no ride, but its an eternal risk and usually someone will have a go. Some times its down to age, other commitments, or whatever, I just hope that Sam's comment doesn't spiral off into something like what we get everytime someone says they didn't like such and such an event/magazine article.

I should probably clarify and say that it's not the being involved so much as seeing the, sometimes ugly, things that go on behind the scenes - things which I wouldn't want to spoil my enjoyment of meeting great people and having a great time. I sometimes also think there's a tendency to over politisice things - we have that at a dance club I go to, mountains into molehills etc, and I can't be doing with that.

I hope it went well though, any news from those who are/were there?
